Bare Video is an open-source editing skill for coding agents. Your agent uses the tools already on your machine, reaches for FFmpeg and HyperFrames when useful, and adapts the edit to your footage instead of forcing it through a template.
No extra editor. No Bare Video engine. Just a better handoff to your coding agent.
$ ffmpeg · hyperframesuse what the edit needsThe agent reads the Bare Video skill, inspects the actual video, and figures out what the edit is trying to do. No mandatory sequence of layouts pretending to be taste.
FFmpeg handles the media. HyperFrames handles composed browser visuals when they help. Transcription can come from Groq, Deepgram, a local model, or whatever tool you approve.
If the video mentions a repo, result, website, screenshot, or demo, show the real thing. If nothing useful belongs on screen, stay with the footage.
Ask for a plan or let the agent make a first draft. Either way, preview the result and adjust it in normal language before final export.
Creative direction
These are directions the agent can choose from. They are not templates it has to rotate through.
Stay with the speaker when that is the strongest frame.

Small visuals without throwing away the footage.
Let the repo, demo, result, or screen take over when it deserves the space.
Designed moments for stats, comparisons, steps, and payoffs.

Give the agent an edit you like and let it borrow the language, not the branding.
The simple version
Bare Video stays out of the way. The coding agent does the work with native tools.
Put your original video and any references or assets there.
Give the agent the repo or install the skill permanently if you use it often.
Use the prompt builder or just tell the agent what you want.
Review the cut and visuals instead of trusting a successful command.
Adjust in plain language, then render the final video.
Open source. Local-first. Built under Bare Stack Labs.
